What is concealed in something revealed? How do we weigh the benefits and consequences of human ingenuity, creativity and, problem solving? How has our drive to survive evolved into a twenty-first century consumer culture of pleasurable distractions, creature comforts, and capitalist morality? Modernity critiques itself, as it trickles down from its source in the arts and sciences to the strip malls and parking lots of mainstream American culture. Where there is a problem we find a solution, where there is a question, we create an answer that will likely create a new problem.

In asking questions and looking for photographs I started seeing choices. I began seeing the world as a human construct built one decision at a time. How has the human drive for survival evolved into our twenty-first century consumer culture of pleasurable distractions, creature comforts, and capitalist morality? Modernity critiques itself, as it trickles down from its source in the arts and sciences to the strip malls and parking lots of mainstream American culture. Only time can measure the benefits and consequences of human ingenuity, creativity and, problem solving.

Man is, by nature, a builder, and it is this ability to alter our environment that is championed as the height of civilization. Where there is a problem we find a solution, where there is a question, we create an answer. However, the answer is relative and the solution will almost certainly create a new problem. I am interested in how our creativity, technology, and our fear of the unknown are tied into our sense of hope, suffering and denial. In a word, my work is about accountability.
